Tegg will run for Sheriff again
The Orlando Sentinel
January 6, 2007
SUMMARY: Edgewood's police chief and past Orange County sheriff's
contender John Tegg said Friday that he's running in 2008.
With about 60 Fraternal Order of Police supporters by
his side, Tegg said the
current Sheriff has failed to ease record violent crime or improve working
conditions for deputies. Tegg said that as sheriff, he would get more sworn
deputies on the streets by reallocating resources. He also would boost
funding for the agency and get better pay and benefits for deputies.
"There's been a trail of broken promises and broken commitments,"
said Tegg, who is a Republican.
Fraternal Order of Police officials
announced their endorsement of Tegg's candidacy at Friday's news conference.
"Certainly, it's time for a change," said Kevin Carlucci, president
of the FOP lodge that represents about 400 deputy sheriffs.
